The global technology company Meta has promoted Sandhya Devanathan to vice president and head for India and South East Asia, with effect from June 2025. In this new role, she will oversee Meta’s teams, partnerships, and growth plans across both regions. Before this, she served as the vice president for India at Meta from January 2023 and played a key role in expanding Meta’s business in the country.
Devanathan joined Meta in April 2020 as the vice president for Asia-Pacific Gaming. In this position, she managed one of Meta’s largest revenue businesses and worked closely with gaming companies across the region. Prior to Meta, she spent four years at Facebook in Singapore. She started as Facebook’s first country director for Singapore in August 2016 and later took on Vietnam as well. At Facebook, she also worked on research about ecommerce trends with Bain and helped start the company’s first startup incubator programme in Southeast Asia.
Devanathan has more than 25 years of experience in banking, payments, ecommerce, and technology. Her career began at Citi in May 2000. She worked there for nearly 10 years in different roles related to online banking, personal loans, and consumer lending in India, the Philippines, and the US. In December 2009, she moved to Standard Chartered Bank. For six years, she led the bank’s credit cards, loans, and retail banking business in Singapore, managing a large portfolio and building new products for customers.
Today, apart from her role at Meta, Devanathan also serves on several boards. She is a board observer at Jio Platforms since July 2023, a founding board member at Reliance Enterprise Intelligence from February 2026, and an advisor to Singapore Management University and the National Library Board.
With strong experience in digital change, technology, banking, online platforms, consumer businesses, and leadership, Sandhya is well placed to lead Meta’s growth and new ideas in India and South East Asia.
We at HRKatha wish Sandhya Devanathan success in her new position!
