After a successful six- year long stint with Zomato, Sankalp Kathuria has now taken on the role of co-founder and CEO, Broadway.

Kathuria will bring hands-on experience across every stage of the growth journey of Broadway India, as it prepares to scale its pioneering retail model, bringing hundreds of digital-first D2C brands to immersive offline spaces.

A mechanical engineer from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, and an alumnus of Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management, Sankalp Kathuria began his professional sojourn as an intern with Mercedes Benz Research and Development,India.

He spent almost six years with Bain and Company, having joined as senior analyst in August of 2009. Almost two years into this role, he was elevated to associate/senior project lead/team manager.

After taking a break to complete an MBA in 2016, he was back in Bain as consultant. Almost two years later he was promoted to case team leader.

Sankalp Kathuria’s association with Zomato began in December of 2018. He spent a year and nine months playing AVP, customer experience. Then, he handled new initiatives for a year and four months before being elevated to head, central strategy, delivery logistics, in July of 2021. By December of 2022, he had risen to the position of business head, Zomato Dining and SVP

Now, at Broadway, a pioneer in experiential and tech-enabled retail, Sankalp Kathuria will drive the brand’s next phase of growth and innovation. He will leverage its unique retail format and commitment to cutting-edge consumer experiences, and help Broadway expand its footprint and strengthen its position as a leader in redefining how customers interact with brands in the physical retail space.

Vivek Biyani, founder, Broadway India, feels Sankalp Kathuria “shares our future-forward vision for Broadway, and we believe this partnership is what Broadway needs to create new milestones.”

Kathuria himself is “excited to bring my learnings from building online businesses into the world of physical retail — creating spaces where consumers discover, connect, and fall in love with new-age brands.”

As Broadway—which currently operates two flagship stores in Delhi and Hyderabad—gears up to expand its footprint with upcoming experiential outlets in Pune and Mumbai, Kathuria’s experience and expertise will surely be invaluable.
