    Subimal Mondal appointed president & group CHRO, Deepak Group

    Mondal comes with almost four decades of experience and has served Indian Oil for almost 39 years

    Deepak Group has appointed Subimal Mondal as president and group CHRO.

    Mondal, a BE in Mechanical Engineering from Jadavpur University, was a PhD research scholar at OP Jindal Global University in 2024, and has also completed an MBA from the University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business.

    He began his professional journey as a service engineer with Babcock & Wilcox, way back in 1985.

    His long association with Indian Oil began in 1986, when he joined as a project engineer. Over four and a half years into this role, he was elevated to technical services manager, working out of Durgapur, Ranchi and Kolkata. Well over nine years later, he was promoted to senior divisional manager, in April of 2000. This role saw him working out of Siliguri for over four years.

    In April 2004 he was elevated to head of HRD and training. The next six years saw him supporting the head of HR of eastern region of Indian Oil Corporation in the matters of manpower planning, benchmarking, succession management, training, performance management, performance pay, compensation and benefits and so on. By April 2010 he had climbed to the position of deputy general manager (human resource). Two years into this role, he was promoted to deputy general manager (HRD & training). By March 2013 he was playing general manager (human resources), working out of Mumbai. He became executive director (HR) in 2016. From 2017 to 2019, he served as executive director (HR & CSR).

    From 2019 to 2023, he was executive director (lubes). From 2023 to 2024, he served as executive director I/C (HR), corporate HR. After almost 39 years with Indian Oil, Subimal Mondal took up the role of professor of practice, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Delhi.

    Mondal is now “extremely happy and proud to join the highly skilled, collaborative, energetic and forward-thinking team of Deepak Group”, which is a multi-division and multi-product, chemical intermediate with manufacturing facilities at Nandesari & Dahej in Gujarat, Roha and Taloja in Maharashtra, and at Hyderabad.  Based out of Badodara, Mondal will be “working closely with department heads and team leaders to drive Deepak Group’s performance-driven human practices, to foster creative and innovative working environment that offers equal opportunity to learn, lead and advance as a professional and as a leader.”
