After a long and successful tenure of over 19 years with Citi, Vijay Swaminathan has taken up the role of global chief human resources officer (CHRO), at Redington.
Swaminathan, an engineering graduate from University of Madras, holds an MBA in HRM from SIST and was a strategic advisory, human resource management, at Cornell University.
After spending a short while as a trainee with Tamil Nadu Telecommunications and then as a management trainee-HR with Aditya Birla Group, he joined DSQ Software Group as executive HR, in Chennai from 2004 to 2006.
It was in January of 2006 that he joined Citi as manager-HR. Six years into this role, he was elevated to HR senior manager-retail banking. January of 2015 saw him elevated to the position of HR lead, Kuala Lumpur (Citigroup Transaction Services, Malaysia).
Another promotion made him HR lead-Asia (south), operations and technology.
February of 2019 was witness to Swaminathan becoming HR head-Bangladesh, Sri Lanka.By April of 2021, he was elevated to HR head-India, Citi Solution Centres. In January of 2024, he was put in the chair of director and HR head-India, Citi Solution Centres and head-Asia (south) cluster labour relations.
