    Virtusa appoints Nitesh Banga as CEO

    Banga moves from Hitachi, where he was serving as CEO for its digital engineering business unit

    Virtusa Corporation has appointed Nitesh Banga as its new president and CEO, effective 3 February, 2025. He succeeds Santosh Thomas, who is stepping down to pursue new opportunities. However, Thomas will continue as a strategic advisor during the transition.

    Banga joins Virtusa from Hitachi, where he was serving as CEO for its digital engineering business unit. He joined the company in April 2024. He has nearly three decades of experience in technology services, including over 20 years at Infosys.

    Prior to Hitachi, Banga was associated with GlobalLogic, a Hitachi group company. He joined the company in the year 2018 as its chief operating officer. In 2022, he held the company’s helm as president & CEO. In this role,

    Banga led the company through rapid growth and its successful integration with Hitachi.
    Banga began her professional journey with Infosys in 2007.

    “I’m honoured to lead Virtusa at this crucial time,” Banga said. “Companies that prioritise digital transformation, AI and data strategy will gain a competitive edge. Virtusa is uniquely positioned to help brands innovate and stand out.”

    An alumnus of IT BHU, Banga holds a degree in chemical engineering.

    Rajeev Mehta, chair of the board of directors, admits that Banga “is a highly accomplished leader in the world of digital engineering, but importantly, also someone who shares Virtusa’s passion for clients.” He looks forward to working with Banga “as we continue innovating and optimising our business.” Mehta is confident that with his deep expertise, Banga “is well suited to guide the company forward during this AI powered technology revolution.”

    He also thanked Thomas for his contributions towards the company’s growth.

    He acknowledged how since joining Virtusa in 2021, Thomas “has spearheaded the Company’s expansion into new offerings and capabilities”and wished him “continued success in his career.
