Mahindra Tractors, the Indian tractor brand, has launched its Skill Development Centre at Government ITI College, Gadchiroli, Maharashtra today. The brand is partnering with Department of Vocational Education & Training (DVET) and the Maharashtra State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) to advance India’s rural skilling and economic growth.
The objective is to equip the youth from rural India with industry-relevant skills so that they become employable.
With India’s focussing on and prioritising skill development, this new centre is moving in the right direction. Not only will the centre provide industry-ready skills but it will also offer livelihood opportunities to the locals.
The Tractor Skill Development Centre will offer industry expertise in tractor and farm machinery, via a structured curriculum, delivered by the most experienced trainers. This is an opportunity for rural youth to access the most modern technical equipment and gain hands-on experience in various aspects of tractors and related skills. Those trained here will be able to land jobs at manufacturing plants as well as in the areas of tractor sales and dealerships.
Veejay Nakra, president, farm equipment business, Mahindra & Mahindra feels proud to “partner with the Government of Maharashtra, creating a future where our rural communities are uplifted by cultivating skills and harvesting hope”.
