Two years later, Harsh Trehan joined GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, as regional HR manager-East. Three years into this role, he was elevated to site HR head, in 2004. Another promotion in 2007 made him general manager-human resources. He moved on from GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare, after over a decade, to join Compass Group India, as chief people officer, in September of 2013.

Seven years later, he returned to GSK, as people services lead, GSK Global Capability Centre. After over four years of working out of Bengaluru, Harsh Trehan has now been elevated to CHRO and EVP-HR, India. Working out of Mumbai, he will now lead the HR function for GSK India’s pharmaceutical business, with about 4,000 employees, and a unionised workforce.

Trehan will be expected to foster a high-performing, inclusive culture that “empowers people, enhances leadership capability, and strengthens employee engagement to ensure GSK remains an employer of choice.” Among other responsibilities, he will also “play a critical role in navigating the complexities of a unionised workforce, balancing long-standing traditions with progressive practices to ensure alignment with GSK’s purpose of getting ahead of disease together.”

With a focus on people enablement, Trehan will “strive to create an environment where our workforce can thrive, build new capabilities, innovate, and deliver meaningful health outcomes for millions across the country.”

HRKatha wishes Harsh Trehan all the best in this endeavour.
