Axis Bank has appointed Usha Sonavaria as senior vice president-human resources (SVP-HR). Sonavaria was earlier with CMS Info Systems as senior director-human resources since 2023.

Usha Sonavaria began her professional journey as an officer-HR in April of 2007, with Lotus India Asset Management Company. A little less than two years into this role, she moved to DBS Bank as manager-human resources. She worked out of Mumbai for over three years, before she was picked to play senior manager, HR at Telenor (India) Communications, in March of 2014. This role saw her relocating to Gurugram. Among her responsibilities, she had to look into payroll, statutory compliances, audit, settlements, as well as international mobility.

Over two years later, in April of 2016, Usha Sonavaria took up the role of vice president and zonal head-human resources, Jana Small Finance Bank. About four years into this role, she was promoted to head-HRBP, talent acquisition and HR operations. This promotion saw her moving from Mumbai to Bengaluru. By April of 2022, she had reached the position of chief human resources officer (CHRO).

After an over seven-year long association with Jana, Usha Sonavaria accepted the role of senior director-human resources, at CMS Info Systems, in August of 2023.

Known for her dedication, hard work and efficiency, Usha Sonavaria has completed the Executive Development Programme of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore. She also holds a certification in talent management from XLRI Jamshedpur.

HRKatha wishes Usha Sonavaria the very best in her new assignment at Axis.
