ColdStar Logistics, the Indian temperature-controlled supply chain company, has seen dramatic workforce growth over the past three years. From 427 employees in FY22, the company now employs 3,111 people in FY25, marking a sevenfold increase. This expansion reflects the company’s rapid scaling of operations across more than 200 cities and its rising role in supporting e commerce and quick commerce platforms.
A notable shift has been in gender diversity. In FY22, only nine women were part of the workforce. By FY25, that number had risen to 386, showing ColdStar’s commitment to building a more inclusive environment. Alongside this, the company has invested in advanced warehousing with multi temperature zones, AI enabled inventory systems, and scalable infrastructure in major hubs such as Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, and Chennai.
The workforce expansion has also highlighted new employment patterns. Vendor payroll employees now form a significant share of the headcount, while daily wage staff have increased to meet dynamic supply chain needs. This reflects a growing reliance on flexible staffing models to balance efficiency with demand fluctuations.
Looking ahead, ColdStar plans to strengthen HR systems with structured onboarding, training programmes, and compliance-driven processes. Improvements in attendance tracking, payroll accuracy, and performance management are expected to boost productivity and retention.
Founded in 2011 by Tuscan Ventures, ColdStar operates 23 distribution centres and serves over 7,000 pin codes. Its workforce transformation underscores how employment strategies are central to scaling operations and sustaining competitiveness in India’s fast changing logistics sector.
