Bigbasket, a Tata Group company and one of India’s popular quick-commerce platforms, has named Amit Nanda as its new chief executive officer.
Hari Menon and Vipul Parekh, co-founders, bigbasket, will remain on the Board and continue to mentor the leadership team. Nanda joins with 20+ years of experience across e-commerce, FMCG, and consumer banking. He was most recently director, selling partner services at Amazon India, where he managed the company’s third-party marketplace-one of its largest businesses.
In his 11 years at Amazon, he has also built and scaled its private label portfolio and led teams across product, tech, and marketplace. Earlier, he held leadership roles at Hindustan Unilever and Citibank. As CEO, Nanda will focus on strengthening bigbasket’s quick- commerce leadership, driving innovation, and enhancing customer value and convenience.
On his appointment, Nanda reportedly said that he was excited to join bigbasket and build on the trust it has established with Indian consumers. Combining that with Tata’s legacy will create a strong foundation. He also stated that he admires the work done by Hari and the team and is eager to partner with Hari to accelerate their shared vision.
Menon acknowledged that Nanda’s consumer understanding and experience make him well suited to lead the company. He confirmed he would remain involved as a mentor and board member and was committed to bigbasket’s long-term success.
Sajith Sivanandan, CEO & MD, Tata Digital and chairman, bigbasket, welcomed Nanda and reportedly noted that “his expertise in digital commerce and product strategy makes him an excellent choice”.
