Vinay Bassi has been elevated to chief, HR operations, Cipla. He has been with the pharmaceutical brand for well over five years now, having joined in December of 2020.

Armed with an MBA in Human Resources, Vinay Bassi began his professional journey as a deputy personnel manager with PUNWIRE, way back in 1988. Over three and a half years later, he moved to Escorts as assistant personnel manager, in February of 1992.

His next stop was Ranbaxy, in September of 1993, as assistant personnel manager. Two years and nine months later, he was elevated to plant personnel manager.

After a five-year stint with Ranbaxy, Vinay Bassi took up the role of plant HR manager at PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division, working out of Channo, Punjab.

In April, 2001, Bassi relocated to join as HR manager-operations, PepsiCo at Gurugram. Nine months into this role, he was promoted to GM HR-C&B and talent acquisition. For the next almost three years, his responsibility was to ensure the talent needs of a very high-growth business ( YOY 70 per cent) , develop compensation and benefits practices, manage employee relations, ensure implementation of PepsiCo HR processes and capability-building initiatives.

He was elevated to vice president-HR sales and operations in 2004. In less than two years he was promoted yet again and made vice president-sales HR.

From October 2007 to January 2010 he served as HR director, Goodyear, based out of Faridabad.

Onicra appointed him CHRO in January of 2010. Over a year into this role he moved to Perfetti Van Melle as director-HR.

The year 2016 saw him accepting the role of group employee relations head at Arvind. He worked out of Ahmedabad and was soon elevated to chief human resources officer in February 2017.

His association with Cipla began in December of 2020 when he took up the role of VP and head HR tech and operations. Just over two years into this role, he was elevated to SVP & head, HR tech and operations.

And now, as CHRO, he will continue to use his skills in conceptualisation and meticulous execution, and management of complex situations.

HRKatha wishes Vinay Bassi all the best!
