Amazon India puts people first this festive season

Exclusive perks for employees and expanded rest centres for drivers show Amazon’s twin focus on recognition and care during the Great Indian Festival.

Amazon India has turned its focus on employees and delivery partners as the Great Indian Festival approaches.

The company hosted a high-energy kick-off for staff, combining music, food, and festive cheer with a new benefit—exclusive employee-only offers. Starting 8 October, employees can access special deals across 50 brands, including extra discounts and early-bird promotions. Leaders such as Samir Kumar, Abhinav Singh, and Vikas Bansal highlighted that these offers are a way to thank teams who spend months preparing for the festival, ensuring they feel valued before peak season begins.

At the same time, Amazon expanded its welfare initiative for delivery drivers. Fifty new Ashray rest centres will be added across India, taking the total to 200, with a target of 250 by year-end. Mobile Ashray vans have also been introduced in Bengaluru, joining Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Hyderabad. Salim R Memon explained that the centres and vans provide clean, air-conditioned seating, water, charging points, and rest facilities for all drivers, not just those working with Amazon. This expansion is part of a Rs 2,800 crore investment in safety, health and well-being.

Together, these moves show Amazon’s dual focus: energising employees with recognition and perks, while supporting delivery drivers with rest and care during the busiest shopping season. Amazon is not ignoring the fact that the festival’s success depends not only on customers but also on the people who make it happen.
