Apple is all set to create 20,000 new jobs across the US. How? It is preparing to expand teams that will work on research and development (R&D), software development, custom silicon, hardware engineering, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The multinational will invest $500 billion on supplier partnerships, direct jobs, intelligence infrastructure, offices, data centres and production over the next four years.
In the past five years, Apple almost doubled its expenditure on advanced R&D, and intends to continue to speed up its growth. Since 2020, Apple has reportedly contributed more than $75 billion to the US in terms of taxes, with $19 billion paid in the year 2024 alone.
The company will increase support to the manufacturing sector by doubling its Advanced Manufacturing Fund. The fund will be used to build advanced technology in Texas.
Tim Cook has reportedly revealed in the press release that Apple intends to start producing servers—once manufactured outside the US— in Houston in the latter part of 2025. These energy-efficient Apple Intelligence servers will now be built at a huge centre covering about 2,50,000 square feet, which will employ thousands of people, especially from the Houston region.
Apple is also increasing the capacity of its data centres in North Carolina, Iowa, Oregon, Arizona and Nevada. Apple Intelligence will be expanded to India as well, along with other regions of the world. It will be expanded to localised English for India and Singapore, and other languages, such as French, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, German, Italian, and Portuguese.
