Come June and Deloitte will have new job titles for its over 1.81 lakh employees. It is also introducing a new senior role of ‘leader’. Presently, the roles in the senior ranks include partners, principals and managing directors.
The changed titles will come into use across all departments in all external and internal documents and processes starting 1 June, say media reports. However, the new titles are likely to be communicated to the employees sooner. Some may already have been told what their new title will be.
Why are these title changes taking place? Well, the company is endeavouring to modernise and move away from the conventional work structure meant for the traditional consultants. It feels the titles are outdated. These alterations are Deloitte’s response to changes brought on by artificial intelligence (AI), say reports.
A Deloitte spokesperson is reported to have shared with the media that the company seeks to provide its workforce members a more customised experience in line with their skills and work.
It remains to be seen whether the changed job titles will eventually be applied to the Indian workforce and other locations too.
Deloitte was in the news earlier this month with its announcement of plans to expand its India workforce. The firm had revealed intentions to add 50,000 new employees in the coming years. The move will take the firm’s headcount in India well beyond its current strength of around 1,40,000, reinforcing India’s growing importance in Deloitte’s global operations.
