DA allowance maybe increased to 28% for central government employees

Central government employees will start receiving their dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) from July 1, the Government has announced in the Parliament. It is speculated that the DA will be increased by 11 per cent which means, it will go up to 28 per cent from 17 per cent last year.

The Government had stalled the payment of these allowances to the current employees and pensioners due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

According to the All India Consumer Price Index report, DA allowance can be increased by four per cent for January and June 2021. The 11 per cent increase in DA includes an increase of three per cent in January and June 2020, four per cent increase from July to December 2020 and a four per cent increase in January to June 2021.

A few days back, the Government had also announced that the maximum limit of family pension will be increased by two and half times. As of now, the maximum limit of family pensions stands at Rs 45,000 per month. Now with the new announcement coming in recently from the Government, it will be increased to 1.25 lakhs per month.
