    Himachal government hikes wages across categories ahead of Diwali

    Over 21,000 mid-day meal workers will get Rs 500 more per month

    There is good news for various categories of employees of the Himachal Pradesh government. With Diwali approaching, their wages have been increased.
    Mid-day meal workers will get Rs 500 more, which means they will take home Rs 5000 per month. This hike will benefit about 21,115 mid-day meal workers in the state.

    School management committee (SMC) teachers as well as classical and vernacular (C&V) teachers will now take home a salary of Rs 16,009 per month. However, SMC lecturers will now see their salaries increased to Rs 19,378 per month. SMC Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) will get Rs 19,378 per month while the SMC JBT (junior basic training) will now draw Rs 13,762 per month. The salary of water carriers will be Rs 5,500 per month. Special police officers, as well as IT teachers will also see their honorariums hiked by Rs 300 and Rs 500 per month, respectively.

    The hikes were announced by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

    The wages of daily wagers as well as part-time workers has also been hiked to Rs 425 per day. Stitching instructors and panchayat chowkidars will enjoy a raise of Rs 500. The salary of Rajasva Chowkidars will now be Rs 6,300, while Lambardars will earn Rs 4,500 a month.

    Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions as well as urban local bodies will also enjoy hikes. While the chairperson of the zila parishad will earn Rs 25,000 per month, the vice chairperson will take home Rs 19,000, the members will get Rs 8,300 and the chairperson of the panchayat samiti will take home Rs 12,000 per month. Panchayat samiti vice chairman will earn Rs 9,000 per month, while zila parishad members will get Rs 7,500 per month and gram panchayat pradhan will earn Rs 7,500 per month. The up-pradhan will take home Rs 5,100 per month and the panchayat members will get paid Rs 2,100 per month.

    The Mayor of the Municipal Corporation will see the honorarium being hiked to Rs 25,000, while the deputy mayor gets to Rs. 19,000 and councilor, Rs. 9,400 every month. Rs 10,800 will be the honorarium of the chairperson of the municipal corporation, while Rs 8,900 will be paid to the vice chairman and Rs 4,500 to the councillors. It is reported that the nagar panchayat pradhan will now see an increased honorarium of Rs. 9,000, with the up-pradhan receiving Rs. 7,000 and members getting Rs 4,500 per month.
