In celebration of the upcoming Onam festival, the Kerala government has unveiled a comprehensive package of bonuses and allowances for its employees, pensioners and welfare beneficiaries. Over 1.3 million government employees will receive an Onam bonus of Rs 4,000.
A budget of Rs 1,700 crore has been allocated for this initiative.
In addition to the bonus, all government employees will have access to a festival advance of Rs 20,000, providing further financial support during the festive season. Part-time and contingent workers are also included in this scheme, with a salary advance of Rs 6,000 made available to them.
Service pensioners are set to receive a special festive allowance of Rs 1,000, ensuring that retired employees can also enjoy the festivities. Additionally, retired employees under the participatory pension scheme will benefit from the same special allowance, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting its retired workforce.
For those not eligible for the bonus, a festival allowance of Rs 2,750 will be provided.
To further spread festive cheer, the government plans to distribute two instalments of social security and welfare pensions before Onam. This move will benefit around 62 lakh people, with each recipient set to receive Rs 3,200. A total allocation of Rs 1,700 crore has been earmarked for this purpose, highlighting the government’s dedication to ensuring financial security for its citizens during the festival.
Employees can check their bonuses and allowances by reviewing their bank statements around the Onam period, as these amounts are generally credited directly to their accounts.
