DTDC Express has taken another major step towards gender inclusivity in the logistics sector. The company has launched its all-women-operated branch in Thane, Mumbai.
Following the success of its all-women branches in Marol (Mumbai) and Kolkata, DTDC continues to push for greater female participation in logistics.
The Thane hub, is a vital part of the company’s operations, handling over 100 tons of shipments every month. Women employees at this facility will manage nearly 30 per cent of the monthly shipments, many weighing over three kilograms. The new facility was inaugurated by Abhishek Chakraborty, CEO, DTDC Express, on International Women’s Day.
By placing women at the core of its operations, the company aims to break conventions and create an inclusive workplace. The Thane branch is expected to set new benchmarks, proving that women can lead and excel in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Speaking at the launch, Chakraborty highlighted the significance of the initiative. “We are proud to open our third all-women-operated branch, reinforcing our commitment to diversity and inclusion. Women now make up 41 per cent of the workforce in logistics, as per Gartner’s 2024 Women in Supply Chain Survey. The industry is evolving, and we are seeing more women take on leadership roles,” he said.
With this expansion, DTDC continues to drive change, ensuring that logistics in India moves forward with equality at its core.
