Infosys Springboard has launched its first Makerlab at Symbiosis International (Deemed) University in Pune. The lab will bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
The facility will offer hands-on learning experience for students. It is open to learners from Symbiosis institutions and nearby educational organisations. The initiative supports the development of skills necessary for Industry 4.0, automation, and digital transformation.
The Makerlab provides access to advanced educational tools. Students can explore technologies such as robotics, microcontrollers, the Internet of Things (IoT), drones, and 3D printing. Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) kits will further enhance their learning experience.
The Makerlab aligns with India’s National Education Policy 2024. It fosters experiential learning and encourages students to transform ideas into innovative solutions.
Vidya Yeravdekar, pro-chancellor, Symbiosis International University, emphasised the importance of practical learning. She said the lab reflects the university’s commitment to modernising education and equipping students for the evolving tech landscape.
Thirumala Arohi, EVP and head-education, training, and assessment, Infosys, highlighted the lab’s role in enhancing employability. He noted that the initiative would inspire future creators and problem-solvers, contributing to a future-ready workforce.
This collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing STEM education in India. It strengthens Infosys’ commitment to empowering young learners and driving technological innovation.
