SAP, the enterprise applications and business AI company is all set to strengthen its all-in-one human capital management (HCM) suite. It is preparing to acquire SmartRecruiters, the recruiting AI company that transforms hiring for enterprises across the world.

A formal agreement has been signed by SAP to acquire the talent acquisition (TA) software provider. It is expected that SmartRecruiters’ expertise in high-volume recruiting, recruitment automation and AI-enabled candidate experience and engagement will further enhance SAP SuccessFactors’ HCM suite such that customers have access to tools they require for talent attraction and retention. The SmartRecruiters portfolio will continue to be available standalone for the foreseeable future.

The acquisition will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025, as regulatory approvals are still awaited.

Given SmartRecruiters’ user-friendly interfaces and seamless workflows and SAP’s HR tools, the acquisition will result in improved decision-making, reduced time-to-hire and an overall better experience for candidates. Embedded analytics and AI-driven recommendations from both companies will provide rich insights into talent pools, hiring bottlenecks and workforce planning.

SmartRecruiters’ Software-as-a-Service solutions and platform are already enabling over 4,000 organisations globally to efficiently manage their hiring workflows end-to-end, offering a compelling experience to recruiters, hiring managers and candidates.

According to Muhammad Alam, member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, SAP Product & Engineering, “Hiring the right people is not just an HR priority but a business priority. With this planned acquisition, we will help our customers attract and hire the best talent so they can advance their talent-acquisition agendas with speed and agility, while lowering their total cost of ownership.”

Now, customers will be equipped to “manage the entire candidate lifecycle — from sourcing and interviewing to onboarding and beyond— all in a single system to streamline the experience for recruiters, hiring managers and, in particular, candidates.”

In addition to enhanced AI-enabled recruiting and hiring capabilities, the applicant tracking and candidate screening will also become more efficient. Data-driven hiring and recruitment analytics will flow directly into SAP’s existing HCM tools, providing a single system of record for compliant and seamless operations.

Rebecca Carr , CEO, SmartRecruiters, believes, “Joining forces with SAP presents a tremendous opportunity for enterprises worldwide to benefit from our industry-leading approach to talent acquisition.”
