Carrier Air Conditioning & Refrigeration is gearing up to set up a Rs 1,000-crore manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. Built on 39 acres, the plant is expected to generate 1,000 direct jobs and 2,000 indirect jobs, strengthening employment opportunities in the region.
The facility will be focused on sustainable and energy-efficient cooling solutions. The company signed a lease agreement on 17 February, marking a major step in expanding India’s Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) manufacturing base.
The project highlights Andhra Pradesh’s push to attract high-value, technology-driven industries and build globally-competitive manufacturing clusters.
Sri City, located in Tirupati district, has already attracted investments worth over $4.5 billion and is recognised as one of India’s leading business destinations. It houses a multiproduct Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Domestic Tariff Zone (DTZ), Free Trade & Warehousing Zone (FTWZ), and an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster, making it a strategic hub for industrial growth.
Carrier’s investment is notable for its speed—taking just eight months from the company’s initial visit to land handover and project finalisation. The facility will integrate green manufacturing practices and cater to rising demand for sustainable cooling solutions in both domestic and global markets.
The project signals significant workforce opportunities. Beyond direct employment, the multiplier effect of indirect jobs will benefit local communities and supply chains. The emphasis on sustainability and advanced technology also points to a growing need for skilled professionals in energy efficiency, green manufacturing, and HVAC innovation.
This development reinforces Andhra Pradesh’s reputation as a fast-emerging hub for industrial investment and talent growth.
