APL Apollo Tubes has appointed Pankaj Sharma as chief human resources officer (CHRO). In this role, Sharma is expected to drive growth, strengthen the organisation’s culture, and ensure that the Indian company—that produces structural steel tubes—remains a place where talent thrives.
Armed with a master’s degree in human resources and organisation development from the Delhi School of Economics, Pankaj Sharma began his corporate journey as deputy manager, IBM Global Business Process Services, in February 2006. Two years into this role, he moved to Deloitte Consulting as senior consultant, for a year-long stint.
In January of 2009, he joined Aircel as HR partner enterprise business, organisation design, talent programme and HR operations (Delhi circle). This stint lasted over three and a half years.
Sharma’s next stop was MAHLE, where he served as head-HR for over six years.
His association with Anand Group India began in August 2018, as GM group human resources. Within five months, he was promoted to VP-group HR. Less than three and a half years into this role, he was elevated to the position of senior vice president and head-group human resources. For the next almost two years, he was responsible for managing end to end HR activities for the group, including HR strategy, planning and deployment, and driving overall HR strategy for the group.
Then followed a short, seven-month long stint with Rockman Industries, as CHRO, in March 2024.
A self-starter with a skill for detailed planning of projects, Pankaj Sharma’s experience will ensure that APL Apollo remains an employer of choice. HRKatha wishes him all the best in his new assignment!
