    Asheesh Pandey appointed MD & CEO, Union Bank of India

    Pandey moves from Bank of Maharashtra where he was executive director for almost 4 years

    Asheesh Pandey is to begin his second stint with Union Bank of India. He is assuming charge as managing director and CEO.

    Earlier he was with Bank of Maharashtra where he served as executive director for almost three years.

    This is going to be Pandey’s second stint with Union Bank of India. He was associated with the bank for almost 24 years, from 1998 to 2021 before he moved to Bank of Maharashtra.

    After completing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineer, Asheesh Pandey went on to obtain an MBA in Finance and Marketing in 1996.

    He joined Union Bank of India as assistant general manager, in February of 1998. For over 16 years he worked first at the industrial finance branch, and then in the international banking division. During this period, he created two joint venture companies for the bank, that is, Star Union Dai-ichi Life and Union KBC Asset Management Company. April of 2014 saw him elevated to the position of deputy general manager and ES to chairman and MD, Mumbai. After almost two and a half years of managing the CMD’s office, he was promoted to DGM and regional head, Jaipur, in 2016. The next promotion came in 2018, which put him in the chair of general manager-credit monitoring, Mumbai.

    By the time he moved on from Union Bank of India in December 2021, he had reached the position of chief general manager and chief operating officer.

    It was in December of 2021 that Asheesh Pandey took on the role of executive director, Bank of Maharashtra, where he successfully drove corporate credit and treasury, digital lending solutions, machine learning, artificial intelligence, robotic process automation (RBA) across various domains, including retail, compliance, human resources and customer services.

    He also held the post of chairman of The Maharashtra Executor & Trustee Co., which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank of Maharashtra.

    Backed by over 27 years of experience, Asheesh Pandey is a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers, and also holds NSE certification in insurance (both life and non-life), mutual funds and demat operations. He undertook an Executive Leadership Programme at IIM, Bangalore in 2020-21 and also studied strategic digital marketing and analytics, digital communication and media/multimedia from the Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak in 2023.
