    AU Small Finance Bank names Vikash Modi as head-HR

    AU Small Finance Bank has appointed Vikash Modi as its new head-human resources. With a career spanning over two decades, Modi is known for his expertise in HR transformation, building strong workplace cultures, driving diversity and inclusion initiatives, and fostering leadership development.

    In the new role, Modi will drive strategic human- resource initiatives at AU Small Finance Bank, strengthening its organisational culture and development efforts.

    Before joining AU Small Finance Bank, Modi held many key HR leadership roles at Yes Bank.

    He joined YES Bank in the year 2015 as its head-human capital management (branch banking). In 2016, he was elevated to the role of head-human capital management for the bank’s retail distribution. In this role, he contributed to the rapid expansion of the retail branch network by focusing on five key objectives. These included defining HCM plans, driving career progression and employee retention, and collaborating with cross-functional teams for capability building. Additionally, he ensured statutory compliance, led negotiations, and implemented strategic and tactical initiatives to achieve the highest levels of employee engagement.

    In 2019, he was elevated to the role of head-HR, retail banking and served as a driving force behind all HR initiatives encompassing over 75 per cent employees of the Bank. In 2023, he took over as the head-HR for the bank’s wholesale banking, tech, operations and corporate functions.

    Modi’s career journey also includes significant roles at Tata Motors Finance, HDFC Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Union Bank of India, showcasing a deep and diverse understanding of the industry.

    Academically, Modi is well qualified, holding a PhD in human resources management and personnel administration from KIIT School of Management. He also holds an LLB degree from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
