IGRPL, a joint venture between IndianOil and GPS Renewables, has appointed Devendra Singh Sehgal as its new chief executive officer (CEO). The company focuses on advancing India’s biofuels sector and driving the transition to sustainable energy.
Prior to joining IGRPL, Sehgal was associated with IndianOil as its executive director.
With nearly four decades of experience in infrastructure and petrochemical projects, Sehgal will lead initiatives to scale biofuel projects and meet India’s growing demand for clean energy.
A civil engineer from NIT Surat with an MBA from Guwahati University, Sehgal brings a strong technical and managerial background to IGRPL. His expertise covers the entire project lifecycle, from conceptualisation to commissioning.
With 39 years of industry experience, he previously led Indian Oil Corporation’s Mega Refinery and Petrochemical Projects. He also served as director, Board of Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan, overseeing major fertiliser plants. He has contributed to major projects, including the Panipat Refinery, Mathura Refinery, Paradip Petrochemical Project, and Panipat Naphtha Cracker Project.
Sehgal’s expertise lies in strategic planning, project execution, and cost optimisation. His leadership has enhanced efficiency and driven innovation.
Commenting on his appointment, Sehgal said, ” This venture has immense potential to support the country’s goal of setting up 5,000 CBG plants. I am excited to lead this initiative and contribute to India’s transition to clean energy.”
Mainak Chakraborty, CEO & co-founder, GPS Renewables, welcomed his appointment, stating, “Mr. Sehgal’s four decades of experience in the oil industry will be a great asset to IGRPL. His expertise will be crucial in making large-scale biofuel adoption a reality in India.”
