The company plans to triple its headcount in the next one year…

Online furniture company, Urban Ladder, has appointed Geetika Mehta as director of human resources.

As part of its plans to triple its headcount in the next one year, the company has been hiring aggressively. In her new role, Mehta will be leading this exercise.

Speaking about her responsibility, Mehta tells HR Katha “My immediate challenge will be recruiting bright, capable people who can contribute to the growth of the organisation”.

“The next challenge will be to engage these young employees, with an average age of 27 years, with a work culture conducive to their career aspirations,” she adds.

According to her, “meaningful work, early leadership opportunities, flexible environment and an open culture” are some of the things that will be her team’s focus.

As Mehta conveyed to HR Katha, “It is natural for an aggressively growing company like Urban Ladder to look for professionals who are passionate, self-driven and committed. Also, since they will be working for a company that is growing sharply, they are expected to be able to add value from the word go”.

At Urban Ladder, Mehta’s selection process is designed to attract the best talent. In addition, the entrepreneurial culture, exposure to various functional domains, early leadership opportunities, chance to work with a carefully hand-picked, best-in-class team and an experience of fast track careers, make Urban Ladder a great place to work.

Armed with an MBA in HR from XLRI, Jamshedpur, Mehta has worked with Puma as HR head. She has eight years of experience in the HR domain, including stints with Trilogy E-Business and Cadbury Schweppes.

This post pretty well sums up, how ecommerce sites puts Talent in order when it comes to hiring. I wish Geetika the very best in her assignments with urban ladder and also looking forward to her HR approaches, selection of tools and strategies to come closer to vision stated above.
