R Suresh Kumar has been appointed chief human resources officer, Yasho Industries, the Indian company that manufactures rubber additives, food antioxidants, lube additives, aroma and specialty chemicals.
Kumar is backed by over 28 years of experience in the HR domain. He started off his professional journey as personnel and HRD officer, JK Industries, way back in 1992. Five years into this role, he moved to Hindustan Lever, as HR manager, in August of 1997.
After spending more than a decade at HLL, where he looked into TPM implementation, LGP competency model, skill-based training for executives as well as employee relations, Kumar moved on to Alsuwadi Group of Companies in January 2007. There, for more than a year and a half, he successfully initiated cultural change using the Edger & Schien Model. He also redefined the vision and mission statement of the company and handled the compensation and benefits.
His next stop was Associated Capsules Worldwide, where he joined as general manager, from 2008 to 2010. He headed the HR function of six units and sales and marketing (five in India and one in Europe). August of 2008 saw him taking on the responsibility of head-HR (Capsules), ACG Worldwide.
Kumar joined Automotive Company as vice president-human resources in September 2010, working out of Mumbai for over a year.
From October 2011 to April 2013, he was associated with Polycab Wires as vice president and group head-human resources.
Then came a five-year long stint with Mafatlal Industries from April 2013 to August 2018. As senior vice president-HR, he led the human resources functions for the Group.
He was back at Polycab in August 2018, as president-strategy and human resources. Less than two years into this role, he was elevated to executive president and CHRO.
For six years, Kumar has been a full-time research scholar at Sardar Patel University, starting from October 2018. He has also been serving as principal consultant for External Consultants for over two years now.
In his new role at Yasho Industries, Suresh Kumar will lead HR and business strategy. Kumar, who calls himself a performance enabler and a facilitator in business excellence, is known for his skills in talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement and employee relations among others.
