Bank unions oppose this revised salary structure saying it is impossible to accurately evaluate performance in the banking sector.

Between, April 2017 and March 2018, some 18,973 employees had retired. At the same time, the Bank also hired 3,211 employees. 

The job cuts can be attributed to digitisation and automation rendering staff redundant.

Applications for the 554 posts of management executives (SME) are open till May18.

The Board of the bank has recently approved the 'Work from Home' policy enabling its employees to work remotely using mobile devices.

‘D-Change’— one of the largest digital and joint employee-volunteer programmes— will support education and learning, women’s empowerment and rural skills development in the country.

Among other Indian companies, Infosys, TCS (Tata Consultancy Services), Air India, Flipkart, Wipro, Reliance Industries, Tata Motors, ONGC, L&T, Mahindra & Mahindra, Aditya Birla Group, Indian Oil, BHEL (Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.), Snapdeal, HCL and NPTC also feature in the list.

The state-owned bank is hoping to put a new hiring as well as appraisal policy in place.
