State Bank of India has been onboarding its 13,455 newly-recruited junior associates across its branches in the country.
These associates are expected to bring renewed energy, commitment and a customer-first spirit to the bank as it tries to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency at every touchpoint.
The Bank clearly wishes to strengthen its human-resource capabilities by implementing structured skill-development programmes aligned with evolving functional and technological requirements. It already employs at least 2.36 lakh employees and remains committed to building a stronger, more inclusive future.
About two months ago, in May 2025, the SBI had revealed that it was preparing for a major recruitment drive in the financial year 2026. The bank planned to onboard around 18,000 new employees across various roles to strengthen its workforce and support its expanding operations nationwide.
At the time it was revealed that the hiring will help fill the positions clerical staff (clerks), probationary officers (PO), local-based officers (LBO), and specialist officers (SO). The hiring plan was touted as a significant opportunity for aspiring candidates seeking a stable career in the public banking sector.
Out of the total projected vacancies, around 13,500 to 14,000 posts were to be allocated for clerical staff. These roles are crucial for managing branch-level operations including customer service, transaction handling, and general administrative duties. For graduates looking for an entry into the banking industry, this represents the largest hiring segment.
The bank has a large network of 22,937 branches and 63,791 ATMs/ADWMs in India with more than 77,000 BC outlets.
