After an “incredible 38-year journey in healthcare HR,” as Ajay Bhat’s social-media post says, he is retiring from his role at Intas/Accord.
Bhat has spent over 13 years with Sun Pharma, as deputy general manager-human resources, from 1989 to 2002. He was general manager-human resources, Zydus Group for two years, from 2002 to 2004 during which he led the people-development project with Mckinsey.
He served as vice president-human resources, Torrent Pharmaceuticals, leading HR practice and shouldering the responsibility of talent management and people-development strategy.
December of 2005 saw Ajay Bhat joining Abbott, as regional human resources director. Nine years into this role, he was elevated to the position of director human resources-innovation and development.
After a long and successful tenure of over 12 and a half years at Abbott, Ajay Bhat moved to Intas Pharmaceuticals, as president-global human resources. He led the global HR for the pharmaceutical business—of Intas and its subsidiaries Accord Healthcare & group companies—in India, Europe, US and emerging markets. During his tenure at Intas, Bhat led the crisis-management committee for COVID-19 ensuring employee safety and access to critical medicines for patients across the globe. He also steered the committee on supply-chain process improvement, quality culture, and digital tech implementation.
Bhat gratefully sees each of his assignments as “a chance to impact my client groups and the employees I’ve served, culminating in the creation of a unified global organisation.”
He humbly acknowledges the role played by his colleagues, team members and the leaders whose “ contributions have made this journey unforgettable, and I express my heartfelt thanks to each one of them for supporting me.”
Bhat is “enthusiastic about beginning a new phase, focusing on achieving personal goals that were put on hold and later exploring opportunities that align with my expertise, passion, and drive to create a meaningful difference.”
HRKatha wishes him all the best in his future endeavours.
