Can embracing artificial intelligence lead to increase in total employment/hiring and productivity? Apparently yes! Arvind Krishna, CEO, International Business Machines (IBM), reportedly confirmed that the company has deployed AI to do the work of hundreds of human resource employees. However, what is interesting is that instead of headcount reduction, he revealed that embracing AI only increased hiring in other areas. In other words, resources that were rendered free post the layoffs of these HR personnel were invested in hiring more talent, in the areas of programming and sales. The company was able to invest on software engineers, marketing and sales personnel. Investment could be focused on adding more critical thinkers who could do much more than just routine or mechanical work.

AskHR has actually managed to automate most of the mundane, daily tasks being performed by human-resources personnel. In fact, a whopping 94 per cent of the work done by HR personnel, including handling leave requests, salary slips and so on had been taken over by the HR agent, AskHR.

AskIT, yet another agent had managed to bring the number of calls and chats down by a significant 70 per cent for the IT division. That isn’t all; productivity reportedly surged in over 70 divisions.

The company had a global workforce strength of about 2.7 lakh as per last year’s annual report. It has been focusing on expanding its generative AI business. Among its new offerings are tools that enable customers to create their own AI agents in a jiffy.

Same change shall happen in all IT companies. All human HRs of INDIA need to replace by AI. At least AI runs the system based on written logics rather than human HRs.
