Diageo India has introduced Fertility Support Leave for the benefit of its employees, covering a range of medically-assisted fertility procedures. The leave is effective January of 2026. This is the beverage alcohol (alcobev) company’s way of building an inclusive and progressive workplace that supports full-time employees through significant life moments. The policy will also benefit full-time employees supporting a partner or planning parenthood.

Employees undergoing fertility treatments will be eligible for up to 10 days of paid Fertility Support Leave annually. The leave can be availed flexibly — in full or half days, consecutively or across multiple occasions, enabling employees to balance medical needs, recovery, and work commitments with greater ease.

As Shilpa Vaid, CHRO, Diageo India, puts it, “As women embark on deeply personal fertility journeys shaped by choice, circumstance and sometimes medical realities, workplaces play an important role in offering understanding, flexibility, and support. Fertility treatments often involve physical, emotional, and time-intensive demands, and thoughtful workplace policies can help reduce stress, stigma, and career trade-offs.”

In September of 2025, Diageo India had launched a Carer’s Leave Policy, strengthening its efforts to create an inclusive and supportive workplace. The policy was designed to recognise the personal caregiving responsibilities that employees often balance alongside their professional roles.

Under the policy, all full-time employees are entitled to up to five paid days of leave every year. The leave can be used to care for loved ones who need long-term or sustained support due to age, disability, or chronic illness. Employees can also opt to take the leave in half-day increments, making it flexible for urgent or ongoing caregiving needs.

Diageo India already has in place other progressive policies, including gender-neutral parental leave, pregnancy loss leave, and flexible work arrangements, reinforcing the organisation’s focus on inclusion, wellbeing and sustained career growth.
