The platform is aimed at bridging the skill gap that exists in the recruitment industry.

The job market has been an ever-changing entity since the time the Indian economy was gripped by the global phenomenon called digitisation. The ushering of the digital era and the technological enhancements that came with it, have made the job market turbulent like never before. With our colleges and universities feeding outdated content to students, our students, even after graduation and postgraduation, remain unprepared for a decent job. Every change in the job market comes with a demand for new skills. The skills that mattered earlier are becoming irrelevant to the fast-changing job landscape. Similarly, the skills that are vital now will be of no use in the coming five years. That’s how fast times are changing.

According to a joint report published by FICCI and NASSCOM, 37 per cent of the Indian workforce will be in jobs demanding entirely different skill sets. The future of jobs around the globe is said to be mainly dependent on three significant factors—globalisation, demographic changes, and adoption of exponential technologies.

India is one of the youngest countries in the world and has more than 62 per cent of the population in the working age group. Over 250 million people are expected to join the workforce by 2025 (Source: India Skills Report ). This turbulence in the job sector has led to growing concerns among job seekers as well as employers. The job seekers aren’t getting the right jobs, while the employers aren’t getting the right candidates. Changing skill demands has only added to the existing woes. Once the millennials complete their education, they still find themselves incapable when faced by the skill sets demanded by the employers.

The volatile job market needs people who are highly adaptive and flexible to the changes around them. Only learning the skills that trend in the job sector and syncing with the ever-changing demand can make an individual a perfect fit to fill the void created by the difference between skills needed and the skills acquired. Frequent upgradation is the need of the hour.

With the level of competition setting new bars each day, the best option for job seekers and job holders is to upgrade their skills sets. Darwin’s theory holds true in the current VUCA job market—it is about the survival of the fittest, and only the fittest will survive.

Frequent upgradation is the need of the hour.

An internal study conducted by Shine.com reveals that skill sets in GST, big data and digital marketing will be in trend for the coming several months, and only a few are well versed in the same. The study further reveals a shortage of skilled professionals in the industries.

Platforms, such as Shine Learning are offering e-learning courses for everyone. Online certifications have become a significant parameter these days for recruiters to hire a candidate. This trend clearly shows how important knowledge seeking has become to stay relevant today.

With artificial intelligence and analytics set to dominate the job market in the coming years, the question that arises is how working professionals can keep themselves upgraded without taking a break from their day-to-day work. The answers lie in e-learning portals. These are highly accessible places of knowledge to sharpen skills. With everything going digital in the world, e-portals have emerged as the new places of learning.

Learning is a lifelong process, and one must never cease to learn, says ancient wisdom and it holds true in the current scenario. E-portals, such as Shine Learning are capable of fixing the skill set gap in the Indian job market. What puts Shine Learning on an advanced pedestal compared to other e-learning platforms is its smart use of the recruitment industry insights from Shine.com to predict the right set of e-learning courses, in line with marketing trends.

Shine Learning focuses more on what is exclusive in the job market and adopts a more practical approach, giving preference to skills valued by the job market.
