EPAM Systems, a US-based digital transformation and engineering firm, has announced plans to expand its workforce in India. The company has announced to expand its current headcount of over 9,000 to about 10,000 by the first quarter of next year.
This expansion is part of EPAM’s strategy to leverage India’s growing talent pool. The country now constitutes around 20 per cent of the company’s global workforce of 52,650 employees.
Jason Peterson, chief financial officer, EPAM, highlighted during the Q2 earning call, that the company has consistently increased its headcount in India each quarter this year. This further reflects EPAM’s focus on India as a critical hub for both talent and service delivery. This expansion is supported by EPAM’s delivery centres across major cities including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune and Gurugram, which cater to high-end engineering requirements rather than traditional BPO or large-scale maintenance work.
EPAM’s India workforce is instrumental in developing advanced products, platforms, and areas such as cloud, data science, and artificial intelligence—fields that have seen rapid growth in demand over the last year.
Peterson underscored the strategic importance of the Indian market, citing India’s growing economic vitality and its role as a delivery powerhouse for global customers. The company’s continued investment in high-skill areas such as cloud migration and generative AI reinforces EPAM’s commitment to fostering local talent for advanced engineering capabilities.
This workforce growth also positions EPAM to better serve its clients’ evolving needs, particularly as businesses worldwide increasingly demand digital transformation services. As part of its expansion, EPAM is actively recruiting consultative and domain-specific experts to build further on its reputation as a leading engineering firm in India and globally.
