Tata Motors has launched a fleet of electric buses to serve workforce transportation needs at its Pantnagar plant in Uttarakhand. The newly- introduced Tata Ultra 9m electric buses aim to provide a safe, comfortable and eco-friendly commuting option for over 5,000 employees at the facility.
These zero-emission buses are fully indigenously manufactured and equipped with advanced battery systems and cutting-edge technology. The initiative is managed by Tata Motors’ subsidiary, TML Smart City Mobility Solutions (TSCMSL).
This transition to electric mobility is expected to significantly reduce the plant’s carbon footprint, saving approximately 1,100 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. Adding to the sustainability effort, the buses will be charged using electricity generated by a 16MW solar power plant, ensuring a fully green operation.
Beyond sustainability, the initiative places employee welfare at the forefront. The electric buses are equipped with advanced safety features and intelligent transport systems, ensuring reliable and secure travel for all employees. The move underscores Tata Motors’ efforts to create a holistic work environment where employee well-being is a top priority.
Tata Motors’ Pantnagar plant has been a pioneer in setting benchmarks for sustainable practices. The facility has achieved Zero Waste to Landfill and water-positive certifications, further emphasising its role in promoting eco-friendly operations. By introducing the electric bus fleet, Tata Motors has taken another significant step toward enhancing the overall employee experience while aligning with its long-term environmental goals.
As a flagship company of the Tata Group, Tata Motors continues to lead the way in innovation and sustainability, prioritising its employees’ needs while addressing global challenges. Through initiatives such as these, the company reinforces its reputation as a trusted and forward-thinking employer.
