OpenAI has a new chief people officer (CPO) in Arvind KC. He moves from Roblox, a platform where people come together virtually to share experiences, after a stint that lasted well over two and a half years.
Arvind KC, a chemical engineering graduate, completed an MBA in Operations Management from Santa Clara University.
For almost three years, from 2000 to 2003, he served as a solution architect at i2 Technologies. In May of 2003, he moved to National Semiconductor, as senior manager, advanced planning and forecasting systems. Till September of 2008 he worked with the company before switching to Xilinx, as director, operations business solutions.
For two years and eight months, Arvind stayed put at Xilinx before accepting the role of director, IT, Facebook. For the next over three and a half years, he successfully led a team of product managers, engineers and data analysts to build enterprise solutions on Facebook platform for HR, and look after recruiting, sales & marketing, infra, legal and security business functions at Facebook, working out of Menlo Park, California.
December of 2014 saw him take up the position of chief information officer at Palanti Technologies, in Palo Alto, California.
Over four and a half years later, he saw himself playing vice president, engineering, for Google.
It was in July of 2023 that he came to be associated with Roblox.
Arvind is now “excited to begin” his new assignment with OpenAI. In his social-media post, he says, “As AI advances, jobs will evolve, new skills will be required, education models will adapt, and policy conversations will shift. We have a responsibility to navigate that thoughtfully, both internally and alongside customers, partners, and the broader economy”.
Fidji Simo, CEO of applications, OpenAI, believes, Arvind “will play a key role in ensuring our people processes, policies, and systems match our ambition, while preserving the culture and operating principles that have helped us get here.”
