Sudipto Mandal has been elevated to the position of CHRO & head-human resources, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Metro Rail Hyderabad. He was earlier head of HR, group strategic HR initiatives, L&T.
An alumnus of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mandal is an Economics graduates from Jadavpur University. His career began with Eveready Industries as personnel officer, way back in 1998. Two years later, he joined Oracle as senior executive-HR, in 2000. Four years into this role, he moved to BEA Systems as HR manager.
In 2006, Mandal began his association with Asian Paints, as senior manager-HR. Less than four years into this role he was elevated to chief manager-corporate HR. During the eight years that he spent at Asian Paints, the longest tenure of his career so far, he successfully played HR specialist (CoE), heading the corporate HR function for recruitment, performance management, compensation and benefits, HR operations, and even talent management among other responsibilities.
June of 2014 saw him moving from Mumbai to Kolkata, to join Spencer’s Retail as general manager (head)-business HR, for a stint that lasted almost two years.
His next stop was ZEISS Group, where he joined as group HR head (CHRO)-India, in 2016, working out of Bengaluru. Three years later, he quit to become an independent consultant for less than a year.
The year 2020 was witness to Sudipto Mandal taking on the role of vice president and CHRO-HR & admin, Star Cement. This assignment required him to work out of Kolkata for more than two years.
From 2021 to 2023, he was honorary president (part-time), National HRD Network, Kolkata Chapter.
December of 2022 saw him joining PeopleSquare Human Resources Consulting, as partner-South East Asia Markets. For nine months, he was responsible for driving growth strategy across HR advisory, consulting and executive search in South Asia and South-East Asia markets, before he came to be associated with L&T, in August, 2023.
