MetLife New York has appointed Shurawl Sibblies as its new chief human resources officer and executive vice president, effective 1 August, 2024. Sibblies will directly report to Michel Khalaf, president and CEO, Metlife and will also join MetLife’s executive leadership team.

Prior to this, Sibblies was associated with American Express, where she served as executive vice president and colleague strategic partner. In this capacity, she spearheaded talent management, as well as organisational and leadership-development strategies across various business units. Her portfolio also included consumer business, international markets, innovation units and enterprise functions. She joined the company in the year 2020.

Before becoming a part of American Express, Sibblies held the position of senior vice president and human resources business partner at MetLife, from 2012 to 2019. In this role, she worked with the US business, global employee benefits, and investments teams. Her extensive career also includes several leadership roles at TIAA, Citigroup and Hewlett-Packard.

Welcoming Sibblies back, Michel Khalaf, president and CEO, Metlife, said, “With her exceptional track record of developing high-performing teams globally, Sibblies is well positioned to continue to empower our people for the future and make a difference in the lives of our customers and the communities we serve.”

Expressing her enthusiasm about the new role, Sibblies said, “People are at the heart of HR and drive company performance, and MetLife shares my passion to empower people to be their best and enable organisations to thrive. I’m thrilled to be rejoining the company.”

Sibblies holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Albany, a master’s degree in predictive analytics from Northwestern University, and an MBA in finance from the University of Rochester.
