Siddhartha Gupta has stepped into the shoes of Arvind Laddha as the president of Mercer India. Till now, Gupta was chief executive officer, Mercer| Mettl.

An alumnus of Xavier Institute of Management (XIM) Bhubaneswar, Gupta also holds a postgraduate diploma in marketing management from the Times School of Marketing, and began his professional journey with Compaq Computers. After a year there as executive assistant to the managing director, he was witness to the acquisition of the company by Hewlett Packard (HP). Thereafter, he became account manager at HP, having moved into the southern regional sales team, operating out of Bengaluru.

Four years later, in 2006, he joined SAP, where he spent the next ten years. He joined as business manager, but was promoted to director-public services within two years. Five years later, in 2013, he received another promotion, which made him head key PSU, strategic industries (oil & gas, energy and natural resources). Less than two years into this role, he was elevated yet again. This time, he was made the vice president-strategic industries.

After a successful decade-long tenure with SAP, Gupta moved to Mettl, as chief revenue officer, in 2016. By 2019, he had become the CEO of Mettl, a post he had been essaying till Arvind Laddha of Mercer passed the baton to him.

Laddha’s five-year long association with Mercer began in 2019, as president, India. This alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, who also studied at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, completed a three-year long articleship with Kirtane & Pandit from 1992 to 1995. The next 11 years saw him dedicated to Khandwala Securities, his first venture (a stock broking and wealth management company), as assistant vice president.

In 2003, he founded Vantage Insurance Brokers & Risk Advisors. He served as CEO too for 13 years.

October of 2016 saw him joining JLT Independent, as deputy chief executive officer. There, he was a member of the board and also lead the employee benefits, aviation, crop reinsurance and mass health reinsurance practices. Less than three years later, he found himself at Mercer, as president, India, in 2019.

While Arvind Laddha wishes Siddhartha Gupta all the best for his new assignment, HRKatha takes this opportunity to wish both of them luck in all their future endeavours.
