D-Wave, a company that develops and delivers quantum computing systems, has roped in Sophie Ames to be its new executive vice president and chief human resources officer.
Ame moves from Mitel, where she held a similar position for just over a year.
With almost three decades of experience, Sophie Ames is an alumna of Université Paul Valéry – Montpellier III from where she completed a BA in business/applied foreign languages.
She spent about three years with Berlitz International AB as HR manager in the initial years of her career. In 2001, she joined Thomson Legal & Regulatory as HR director, for five years. She served as director, HR business partner, customer management division of Amdocs for three years.
In 2008, she joined Avaya as senior director, HR business partner, enterprise collaboration solutions. By the time she moved on from Avaya after a successful tenure lasting seven years and seven months, she had been elevated to the position of vice president, global learning and enablement, worldwide sales.
July of 2016 saw her joining Veritas Technologies as VP-human resources. Less than two years into this role, she was elevated to SVP & chief human resources officer.
Sophie Ame’s next stop was ServiceMax, where she took on the role of SVP and CHRO.
A brief stint as HCM consultant later, Ame found herself playing EVP and chief people officer at Mitel.
Her passion for building and enabling high-performance teams will hold her in good stead in her new assignment at D-Wave, the Canadian quantum-computing company. D-Wave Systems launched its cloud service in India, in 2020, offering developers and researchers in India real-time access to its quantum computers.
