Nipun Aggarwal will be the new chairman of Air India Express. He will take over from Campbell Wilson who has been occupying this position since 2022. Aggarwal has been playing chief commercial officer, Air India, till now and was already a member of the board of Air India Express. He will continue to shoulder the responsibilities of chief commercial and transformation officer along with the chairmanship. He played a significant role in the acquisition of Air India by Tata Sons.
Aggarwal came to be associated with Air India in January 2022 and has since successfully strategised the airline’s finances and aircraft acquisition. He served as senior vice president, Tata Sons from 2017 to 2022. Earlier, he was associated with Standard Chartered Bank as executive director, strategic clients coverage for over four years, from 2013 to 2017. He has also served as director, Bank of America Merrill Lynch from 2007 to 2013.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, Nipul Aggarwal spent four years as sales engineer with Larsen & Toubro, in the initial years of his career. In 2000 he moved to Merrill Lynch as associate. Three years later, in 2003, he joined BP as commercial advisor.
Meanwhile, Campbell Wilson will no longer be part of the Air India Express board. His place will be taken over by Basil Kwauk, chief operations officer, Air India Express. The organisation’s complete focus will now be on enhancing the group’s fleet, distribution, network, sales, and so on.
