The Sleep Company (TSC)—manufacturer of SmartGRID mattresses, chairs and recliner beds—has appointed Kamaljeet Singh as the chief human resources officer (CHRO). He moves from Rebel Foods, where he was VP-head HR operations and central processes

Singh, who is an alumnus of Punjab Engineering College, completed an MBA from the University of Toronto-Rotman School of Management, in 2012.

In the initial years of his career, Singh served as an IT consultant at TCS, where he was responsible for design, development and implementation of IT-based solutions to automate internal processes of client organisations. Then followed a brief stint with American Express as project manager, in 2011, based out of Ontario, Canada. From 2012 to 2013, he served as client-development consultant for Gallup, in Mumbai.

His next stop was Takshashila Consulting, where he worked as engagement manager-HR transformation.

It was in June 2015 that his long association with Reliance Industries began. He joined as GM-policy, processes, digitisation and change. In 2016, he was promoted to the CHRO’s office, looking after performance, rewards, talent acquisition, talent management and organisation design. Less than two and a half years into this role, he was elevated yet again, to managing business partner (HR). A year later came another promotion, which saw him helping RIL in business transformation – oil to chemicals. After spending almost six years at RIL, Singh moved to Rebel Foods (formerly Faasos), as vice president-head HR operations and central processes. He successfully led HR operations for Rebel Foods’ network of 350+ kitchens across India, and was responsible for the entire employee life cycle processes for 7,000 people across the network.

With this latest appointment at TSC, he will be expected to drive TSC’s mission to enhance employee engagement and develop a thriving workplace culture.

Priyanka Salot, co-founder, The Sleep Company, is confident that Singh’s “extensive expertise in crafting innovative HR policies centred on learning and development will play a pivotal role in our quest to attract and retain exceptional talent.” The comfort tech company is banking on Singh’s “forward-thinking approach” to not only enhance its internal practices but also “create an inspiring workplace where every team member feels valued and empowered. Together, we will drive our mission to improve sleep quality for everyone and elevate our vision to be the global leader in comfort technology, fundamentally transforming how people sit and sleep.”

Kamaljeet Singh himself is impressed that “in just four years, this startup has already introduced ESOPs for all employees, demonstrating a promise to its young workforce.” He is “keen to streamline processes, ensuring that we attract the right talent for the right roles while establishing a compelling tone at the top.” Singh expects to focus on “enhancing learning and development initiatives, creating an environment where our team can flourish and contribute meaningfully to our mission.”

HRKatha wishes Kamaljeet Singh all the best in his endeavour to use his 15 years of experience to help TSC expand its footprint in the wellness and sleep solutions market, with employee satisfaction and organisational excellence as priority.
