The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) is expanding its medical infrastructure with the launch of seven new healthcare projects across the country to improve access for insured workers and their families.
Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports will inaugurate the facilities from ESIC Medical College & Hospital, Sanathnagar, Telangana. The total investment across the seven projects is approximately Rs 668 crore.
Mandaviya will physically open the new Outpatient Department block at the Sanathnagar hospital. The OPD block is designed to provide modern outpatient services to 12,30,183 insured persons and beneficiaries in Hyderabad, Medchal–Malkajgiri, Sangareddy, Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar districts.
The other six facilities will be inaugurated virtually. These include a 200-bedded ESIC Hospital in Beltola, Assam, a 100-bedded ESIC Hospital in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, and ESIS Hospital in Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh. In addition, an ESI Dispensary and Branch Office will come up in Surendranagar, Gujarat, another in Udyog Nagar, Kota; and an ESI Dispensary in Bhawani Mandi, Rajasthan.
Together, the seven projects are expected to cater to the healthcare needs of around 53 lakh beneficiaries nationwide.
As part of the programme, the minister will also honour construction workers who contributed to the Sanathnagar OPD block and disburse cash benefits to ESI beneficiaries. Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment Shobha Karandlaje will attend the event.
The rollout aligns with ESIC’s ongoing efforts to widen coverage under the Code on Social Security, 2020. The Corporation has recently approved new sub-regional offices, occupational disease centres, and upgrades to existing hospitals as part of its broader push to strengthen healthcare delivery for workers.
