Is Oracle planning another round of job cuts?

Media reports say that debt is driving this downsizing as AI push strains payroll

It hasn’t been long since reports of Oracle’s 21,000 job cuts over a year shook the industry. Now, it looks like Oracle is preparing for another round of layoffs this month, according to people familiar with the matter and an internal document seen by Business Insider. The company is reportedly carrying billions in debt to fund new AI infrastructure, and therefore, trimming payroll has become a priority.

The internal note suggests that some teams could face double digit percentage cuts. Managers have already been asked to submit names of employees who will be affected. The timing is tight: Oracle wants the reductions in place before its second quarter begins on 1 September, 2026.

Employees have been warned to watch their inboxes. Past layoffs at Oracle have been rather abrupt, with staff receiving early morning emails from “Oracle Leadership” stating simply that their role had been eliminated. Access to company systems was cut promptly the very same day. In March, workers in the US, India, Canada and Mexico were impacted in the same manner.

This new round appears set to follow a similar pattern. The urgency reflects Oracle’s financial balancing act—investing heavily in AI infrastructure while trying to keep costs under control. For employees, the looming cuts add to uncertainty about job security and the company’s future direction.
Oracle has declined to comment on the reported plans.
