A whopping 68,000+ volunteers from Deloitte India participated in meaningful actions, volunteered to contribute to positive change in their communities, and reinforced the company’s dedication to fostering a culture of social responsibility and community engagement. Yes, the annual Impact Day at Deloitte India, which was held in two phases in its 22nd edition this year, saw professionals come together to dedicate an entire working day to worthy causes such as sustainability, support for persons with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, skills empowerment, education and animal welfare, among others.

Deloitte India’s Impact Day offers employees an opportunity to engage in social-impact efforts that reflect the company’s commitment to creating positive change not just at the individual level but at the community level. The initiative aims to drive progress toward a more equitable and sustainable future for all. Impact Day sees “professionals participate in virtual and in-person projects, contributing meaningfully by mentoring students, empowering individuals, engaging in environmental projects, and supporting local animal shelters, among others.”

Simply put, “Giving back to the community is deeply ingrained in Deloitte’s culture, and our people take great pride in it. This is why we’re excited each year to bring our passion, knowledge, and skills to drive positive change and make an impact in our communities,” says Sanjeev Jammihal, purpose office leader, Deloitte US: India Offices.

In addition to projects supported by Deloitte India, every year, many volunteer leaders identify non-profit organisations and collaborate with internal teams to create day-long programmes for volunteers. It is up to the volunteers to register for initiatives that align with their passions and purpose.

This allows professionals at Deloitte India time to engage in meaningful activities beyond their daily work and contribute to building careers rooted in a strong sense of purpose.

As Saraswathi Kasturirangan, chief happiness officer, Deloitte India, puts it, “Impact Day is more than a tradition; it’s a reflection of our shared purpose. Through these initiatives, we’re not just giving back to our communities; we’re also enriching our own lives with a sense of purpose and connection.”

The day reminds people that “when we extend our empathy into action, we not only make a difference in the world around us but also receive something profound in return—a sense of fulfilment, the joy of driving change, and the intangible blessings that come from truly meaningful work,” explains Kasturirangan.
