UBS, the Swiss investment bank has not made a full return-to-office mandatory for its employees. However, it has told them to be present in the office on a Friday or a Monday.
Employees who have been choosing to work from home on Fridays as well as Mondays, trying to club work-from-home with the weekend will now be required to be in office just before the weekend or immediately after.
The bank has sent a memo to employees about this requirement to work from office for at least three days a week, with the additional clause that they cannot work from home on a Friday followed by a consecutive Monday. They would have to choose between a Friday and a Monday.
The rule is applicable to all 1.15 lakh employees of UBS.
The Swiss financial institution is letting employees enjoy flexibility but reportedly wants them to be physically present in the office for three days a week so that productivity, innovation and collaborative spirit are not compromised.
Early this year, JP Morgan mandated a full-time return to office for its employees, that is, five days a week. Till then, only about 60 per cent of the workforce had been working from office five days a week, with the rest working hybrid. The mandate did not really come as a surprise because Jamie Dimon, CEO, JP Morgan, had always been critical of remote work and flexibility.

this is right. Somebody should tell these employees to be in office than sitting at home and gaining more weight. And what do these ubs people achieve by doing that? Nothing! They are just enjoying like vacation. Ask them to get out of their homes first. I have closely observed these guys from my previous interactions and conf calls with UBS Mumbai. They are very lazy, not serious about anything. They don’t even want to get trainings from good institutes and Gud instructors! Non sense!
Oh come on ubs guys! Move your body atleast!
