HDFC Bank has taken swift action against one of its officers in Kolkata who was caught on video engaging in disruptive behaviour towards colleagues during an internal meeting. The officer, whose identity remains undisclosed, was suspended by the bank following the circulation of the video on social media platforms.

The video, which quickly went viral, depicted the officer shouting at his junior colleagues for allegedly failing to meet sales targets for banking and insurance products. The incident sparked outrage and raised concerns about the work environment within the bank.

In response to the incident, HDFC Bank released a statement affirming its commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance policy towards workplace misconduct. The bank expressed its firm belief in treating all employees with dignity and respect. The statement further emphasised the initiation of a detailed investigation in accordance with the bank’s conduct guidelines.

The manager featured in the video can be seen pressuring his junior employee to sell a significant number of insurance policies within a single day. However, further details regarding the employee’s response or perspective on the incident could not be obtained at the time of reporting.

HDFC Bank’s prompt action in suspending the officer and initiating an investigation demonstrates its commitment to upholding a safe and respectful work environment for its employees. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining professional conduct and fostering a culture of respect within the workplace.

As the investigation progresses, HDFC Bank will continue to address the matter in accordance with its established guidelines, ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
