After a long and successful 11-year long stint with Starbucks India, Nabamita Banerjee has moved to Shoppers Stop to play customer care associate and chief human resources officer.

Nabamita Banerjee holds a BE in Electronics and Communication from the LD College of Engineering and has completed an MBA in human resources from Welingkar Institute of Management.

Her professional journey began as assistant manager-HR with Patni Computer Systems back in 2006. For more than four and a half years, she worked out of Mumbai and Bangalore, designing international policy framework in line with local statute, offshorising onsite HR processes and setting up offshore help desks. Among other responsibilities, she handled confirmation, payroll and benefit administration, as well as exits and employee engagement for around 800 employees. Additionally, she implemented reward practices and policies; while also looking into modelling, implementation and execution of annual pay review exercise; and engagement in market compensation benchmarking surveys.

Banerjee joined the Apparel Group as assistant manager-HR, in November of 2010 after four years and eight months at Patni. After spending a short while with the global fashion retailer in Dubai, she returned to India to take up the role of manager, human resources (compensation and benefits, corporate HR), Starbucks India.

Less than a year and a half into this role, Nabamita Banerjee was promoted to senior manager-human resources, in January of 2016. Another elevation took place in two years and three months, making her lead-human (partner) resources, in April of 2018.

By May of 2020, Banerjee had reached the position of head of human resources, Starbucks India.

Known for her analytical bent of mind and her willingness to go the extra mile, she is sure to be an asset to Shoppers Stop.

Kavindra Mishra, customer care associate, MD & CEO, Shoppers Stop, is confident that “her rich experience in people strategy, organisational development, and building inclusive workplaces will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our talent agenda and culture”. According to him, Banerjee’s “leadership will help us create a future-ready, empowered workforce to drive our next phase of growth”.

Nabamita Banerjee herself is looking forward to “collaborating with the leadership team to build a high performing, engaged, and inclusive workforce that will support the company’s transformation journey”.

HRKatha wishes Nabamita Banerjee all the best in this endeavour!
