Shilpa Kabra Maheshwari has been appointed group CHRO, Amara Raja Group. She will step into the shoes of Jaikrshna B who is superannuating after a tenure that lasted well over two decades.

Maheshwari has moved from Siemens India where she was serving as executive vice president and country head (people and organisation), since 2019.

Kabra began her professional journey with Gujarat Gas (Financial Services) as manager (HR and TQ), in 1995. Four years later, she moved to Goa Marriott Resort, Goa as manager-HR. In about a year and a half, she switched to Grand Hyatt, New Delhi, as training manager, in August of 2001.

Dr Maheshwari’s next stop was Jindal Stainless Steel where she spent over 11 years. After successfully looking after overall design, implementation and monitoring of talent, learning & development (L&D) and organisational development (OD) processes for a 6000-strong workforce from 2003 to 2014, she moved to National Engineering Industries, CK Birla Group, in August of 2014. She played vice president and head (human resources) for over four years.

Siemens India roped her in for the role of EVP and country head (people and organisation) in April of 2019.

Maheshwari steps into the shoes of Jaikrishna B (JK), who is handing over his responsibilities to Maheshwari and feels “a quiet sense of fulfilment in knowing that the role now rests in capable and caring hands”.
Jaikrishna or JK as he is fondly called, was president-group HR, Amara Raja Group and has been with the Group since December of 2005.

He began his professional journey as a management trainee with Murugappa Group in May of 1990. He worked his way up to the position of senior manager by 2000, holding various positions in various businesses of the Group. He was elevated to head-HR in January of 2000. After over 13 years with the Group, JK moved to CK Birla Group as general manager-group HR, in January of 2004. Two years into this role, he joined Amara Raja where he began a long association that lasted over 20 years.

JK will continue his association with the Group in a non-executive advisory role with the promoter family on family-business governance, and as a member of the Board of the Rajanna Foundation, the Group’s CSR arm. JK wishes to pursue a small portfolio of advisory, consulting and coaching roles, and to pay it forward through his alma mater and a few community initiatives.
