Starting 1 September 2024, Shveta Arya—who is presently business head, power systems, Cummins India—will be elevated to the role of managing director, Cummins India. She will be stepping into the shoes of Ashwath Ram.

This elevation will not affect her current responsibilities, which she will continue to shoulder at the power solutions company along with her new responsibilities. The Board of Directors has also appointed her as an additional director, with effect from 8 August, 2024.

Arya’s association with Cummins began in 2016, when she joined as head-strategy. Over three years into this role, she was promoted to business head-distribution business. In this role, Shveta crafted a five-year growth vision that saw significant revenue expansion during her tenure. Since September 2022, she has been the business head, power systems.

An alumna of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Arya completed her graduation in information technology from Delhi University.

The initial two years of her career were spent at Infosys, as a software engineer, from 2003 to 2005.

In 2007, she joined AT Kearney as a senior business analyst. By 2010, she had become an associate there.

May of 2011 saw her joining Thomas Cook India as AVP-strategy and commercial. Almost three years into this role, she was elevated to the position of vice president-strategy. For the next two years, she successfully defined and drove strategic initiatives across various business units of Thomas Cook India.

It was in March of 2016 that her association with Cummins India began.

She was on the board of directors, Valvoline Cummins and Cummins Sales & Service from 2019 to 2022.

Shveta Arya has been successfully driving growth and enhancing market presence for power generation and industrial businesses, serving India and the global market. She also effectively led the launch of the CPCB IV+ range of products, which was introduced in July 2023 and features amongst the most stringent emission standards for backup power generation in the world.

Wishing Arya all the best, Ashwath Ram, MD, Cummins India, acknowledges that she “has played an integral role in the company’s growth journey. Her strategic mindset, customer centricity, and commitment to our core values make her the perfect fit to steer the Company to greater heights.”

Arya herself is “deeply committed to steering the company into its next phase of growth and delivering our brand promise of innovation and dependability.”

HRKatha congratulates Shveta Arya and wishes her all the best!
